Coffee Sampling Spear
A must have for any importer, trader and roaster!
The sampling spear finds its design origin in the former docks of Hamburg and is used for sampling green coffee sacks. The sampling spear is the initial step in quality control in order to obtain the coffee beans that will find their way to the lab for closer physical inspection, sample roasting and finally cup tasting. Each coffee lot purchased should be thoroughly inspected on delivery to ensure that the correct origin and quality of coffee is delivered.
Only by objective reasoning, the buyer can make a claim to the seller or transportation company. The coffee sampling spear enables initial inspection of i.e. mold, insect infected beans or foreign odors on the spot.
The sampling spear enables you to obtain a sample directly from the bag without tearing it open or doing any damage. Thanks to its particularly pointy design, any regular jute bag is simply pierced and widened in its structure and left without out a trace. Once inserted into a coffee sack, the coffee is sampled by gravity, which transports the beans through the device and directly into ones hands. Here it can first be observed by eye and smell before finally being poured into a sample bag, coffee tray or bean boxes in larger quantity.
This handy tool is made of type 304 stainless steel and is 100% handcrafted where thin sheets of steel are skillfully cut into proportion, rolled into the ideal shape and finally polished to perfection.
